U2's BIOGRAPHY
The band was formed in 1976 and was named "Feedback". After that they changed the band name to "The Hype", until 1978 when they became U2. Since that time until today the group is formed by Bono Vox on vocals and guitar, The Edge on guitar, piano, vocals and bass, Adam Clayton on bass and guitar and Larry Mullen Jr. on drums. Besides the early beginning in the end of the 70's, U2 became worldly known in 1987 with the album "Joshua Tree" that was the number one in 22 countries. The album Rattle and Hum in 1988 also contributed to the grown of the band. After that the band has released many other successful albums like Achtung Baby, Zooropa and All That You Can Leave Behind.
U2 has been always involved in humanitarian causes, mainly because of its leader Bono. This almost ruined the band in the past. But nowadays the whole group supports Bono in his campaigns. The last album "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" was released in 2004. It was a huge success of selling and critics, being the best seller for weeks in several countries. In 2006, U2 came for the second time to Brazil with the "Vertigo Tour". Each one of the two shows had 70 thousand people. The first one was also live transmitted to television. Twenty year after its beginning, U2 remains as one of the most popular rock band of the world.
